ARMIN VAN BUUREN CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF ‘A STATE OF TRANCE’ AT SILVERWORKS ISLAND

ARMIN VAN BUUREN, MORTEN, GARETH EMERY, PRETTY PINK, TRANCE WAX, BRIAN KEARNEY, AND MORE PLAYED ACROSS THREE STAGES TO 15,000 TRANCE FANS

Marking 20 years since Armin van Buuren started the iconic ‘A State of Trance’ movement, the team brought the globally revered brand to Silverworks Island to celebrate the strength of the current trance scene. Over 15,000 trance fans and almost 30 DJs flocked together at urban waterside spot Silverworks Island, making this special edition of A State of Trance the UK’s biggest trance festival in recent years.

Reminiscing on two decades of trance-filled memories, all corners of the genre were explored with sets from trance royalty. An eclectic array of sonics was provided by all involved, with highlight sets from plenty including the ASOT founding father and trance titan himself Armin van Buuren closing the main stage, leaving his mark on the city of London through an emotional performance to conclude the ceremony.

Other main stage highlights included Gareth Emery, notably one of the UK’s biggest trance exports whose set was a pinnacle in this unique occasion on home soil. Cosmic Gate, who need no introduction, took the crowd on a melodic journey through sounds afar.

Prolific Irish trance legend Bryan Kearney closed the second stage, which was booming all day as the sun beamed down on Silverworks Island. Other special mentions across three stages include German producer and selector Pretty Pink, a rising star blending trance, house and electronica to create a distinct trademark sound. Bringing a fresh new twist on trance, MORTEN shook things up by delivering a brigade of sounds to the party.

“What has happened here is a result of 20 years of coming to the UK, a full circle moment for me. This place feels like my second home, from early in my career when I was more well known here than in the Netherlands. I’ve learnt a lot here – and now to be able to throw my own festival here more than 20 years on, I am very proud.” – Armin van Buuren
